"A book is like a garden carried in the pocket" ~ Chinese proverb
"Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested" ~Francis Bacon
Lia apparently took this quote to heart. I was recently cleaning out her bookshelves and came across this lovingly chewed up edition of one our favorite books. I can hardly remember those first few months home with Lia, when she chewed (and ate!) everything! Her favorite was paper...but obviously she also enjoyed a good book from time to time! :-)

Cute reading pictures! We love to read too!
Mallory loved chewing books too and I will cherish them forever. Lia is just beautiful and I love these pictures. She is truly enjoying her little books. All those books looked very familiar. LOL.
Sarah was a big chewer too....one time she chewed the cardboard box of a toy she was holding in the store...I looked down and almost died!
Lia looks lovely.....it is great that she enjoys books....a good thing to instill in them while they are small!
Hope to see you soon!!

I love looking at some of Emma's first books. I was cleaning out also and didn't have the heart to donate some of the "baby" books.

I love that proverb... and I love that book!
We had the opposite problem with the Tongginator. "Extreme oral aversions" was the label she received. Everyone (but the experts) used to tell me how fortunate we were that the Tongginator didn't mouth anything. They had no idea.
Those photos are beautiful and your daughter...she is breath-taking!
Oh how I love Msgnolia's chewed books too, she did the same thing when we got home. What sweet pics of Lia reading on her blanket! "More, More More" is one of Magnolia's favorite books.
Those are beautiful pictures.
I LOVE these pictures. They are great. We still have the chewed up "Guess how much I love you" board book we brought to China with us. It was the first book we read Katie.
LOVE LOVE these pictures! Great job!
Oh that's funny! She'll treasure those in the years ahead! lol
Such sweet pictures...I just was reading that quote this week about "a garden in the pocket"...so true. :)
Pretty pictures to match the great quotes!
I love the blanket on the lawn... the scene looks so "Little House-ish". Libby chewed on everything too. Our couch looks like her little book!
OH how cute...we have many books like that as well!!! Chelsi was most definitely a taste tester!!!
Love the pictures of your sweet girl reading books! Instilling a love of learning in your child is truly a gift to them!
Blessings,
Denise
I certainly have some chewed up books! I love the pictues of Lia reading - she looks so ladylike sitting with her dress spread around her!
I think that's what board books are for- at least they were for Lucy! Lia looks so cute reading her books. Hope you enjoyed a nice weekend!
We love that book too! Maddie is currently teething and I am keeping the board books up for now!
Looks like a fabulous day- reading outside. I loved those days as a girl and would spend summers hours underneath the trees with my books.
So glad that Lia is enjoying her summer this way.
hugs
