A Labor of Love

Working on Lia's nursery was definitely a high point for me. It was so important that everything be perfect. We worked up until the last few days before we left for China, but it was all ready for Lia when we went "wheels up" on February 4th, 2005.

We painted the walls a baby pink and had the ceiling painted blue. I had soft puffy clouds painted on the ceiling as well...they don't really show up in the photos.

The chandelier is an antique that my sister found for Lia. The rug is also an antique that I found on the BEST SHOPPING EXPEDITION EVER with my sister. Buying those things made the dream of "Lia" seem like a reality.

I spent hours sanding and re-painting a bookshelf that my grandmother had made for my father. Finally, the small rocking chair pictured is also an antique that belonged to my grandmother. It all came together to make the perfect room for Lia.

Oh her nursery...just beautiful. I love when old things are incorporated into new, I think it makes it richer, more depth.

My husband built our home and when he cleaned out the carriage house on our property, he found a toilet and pedestal sink from the early 1900's (we think, could be older), so he fixed them all up and put them in our powder room - it's always been one of my favorite things about the house.
