A gal and her Daddy...or why I love my husband a little more today than yesterday...

Still doing a little photo housekeeping...and I came across a few GEMS I thought I would share!

I have mentioned in previous posts about Lia's lack of need for sleep. It just isn't her thing. Never was....and I am giving up hope that it ever will be. So you can imagine how delusional I must have been to snap this picture and risk waking her up when we were still in China. I believe this may have been the only day she took a nap for us there. We had been out doing some paperwork and Lia fell asleep on the bus ride home. I was giddy over the fact that I got her up to the room, took her coat off, and laid her down without waking her. And apparently I was still suffering exhaustion and cloudy thinking to risk ruining the sleeping with a flashing camera...but as it turns out, this photo is one of my favorites from our early days with Lia...and makes me smile every time I see it.

We like to dance in our house. Crazy, playing instruments, making up dances with names like The Jimbo and The Lia Shuffle, kind of dancing. The goofier, the better...whoever makes the others laugh hardest wins. We listen to a wide variety of music...from Ralph to Laurie Berkner to Queen and INXS. Anything with a strong beat will work...lately we have been lovin' Donny Osmond's "Soldier of Love" (please don't judge...I know his foray into rock music was ill fated...but this IS a great tune!). One recent Saturday morning I captured Jim and Lia busting a move...not sure who was having the most fun!!

Which brings me around to the reason for my post. Watching Jim with Lia has deepened my love and respect for him so much. This morning, he brought Lia outside to wave good-bye to me as I left for work. In the process, she picked a few little flowers from the bush out front. When Lia and I got home from school this afternoon, I found this:

Jim had dutifully placed the flowers in water...a small act...but one that made Lia so happy and proud...and well...made me love them BOTH just a little more today than yesterday. My life is blessed with abundant love and laughter...what more is there???

Oh Kate! I love this!! These little things can mean so much. Every small act of love is a blessing - from the giving of the flowers, to Daddy putting them in water. I know your mommy's heart must have been so full to see it. :)

Awww, what a wonderful hubby and dad you and Lia have!!! You lucky, lucky girls.

My favorite is the dancing pic! My dad and Paige danced together like this, too. What memories you all are making.

These are my favorite pics that you have ever posted!!! So sweet!

Oh how sweet and I too love this post! I tell my husband all the time that I fall in love with him all over again whenever I see him and Francesca together. Daddies and their little girls just melt my heart! I so could not imagine my life without either one of them....We are truly blessed!

(Francesca favorite song is the Lonely Goatherd song from the "Song Of Music"...she also loves My Favorite Things, the Do-Re-Me song and the Farewell song...one day I'll have to video her singing them...it is just priceless but we too like to dance here at our house too! Your two sure have some moves lol!)

Thanks for sharing the sweetness, Kate. I'm brushing sugar off my shoulders as we speak. Do you think you could loan us some? The Tongginator's been more tart than sweet lately... I think I've got lemon juice coming out of my ears. (And I really DID enjoy this post.)

(Oh - and my word verification this time? spyjkpc. Notice the spyj part. Is someone trying to tell me something?)

Can I tell you how much I love the picture from China!! It's a riot how they are both sleeping on their backs. The last picture brought alittle tear to my eye. It is so sweet. I LOVE watching Dan with Katie too. It really does make you see your husband in a whole new way.

Great post!

Such poignant thoughts, and once-in-a-lifetime photos. You are obviously all right where you belong... with each other. That sleeping photo is a classic! aybe you can encourage Lia to read this post every day when she is 15---
just to remind her of the blessing of parents.

That is just the cutest little picture of Lia and her daddy on the bed. I can see why that is one of your favorite pictures! And for your hubby to put those flowers in the water... you've got a special guy.

Kate-

Oh.No.You.Di-n't tell me to BRING.IT. Off to find my leg warmers and M.C.Hammer Pants. That's right. I said leg warmers. What? Yes, and Mc. Hammer Pants. pardon? Yes, you can combine the two. And if the occasion called for it, I might even sport my jelly shoes. But I'm thinkin' this occasion calls for my checker vans. Oh, and I'm bringin' my scratch-n-sniff swatch watch so I can officially clock the time we take you DOWN!

so girl... I'm packin' my "IT", and I'm bringin' it your way.

Peace Out!

;)
