My name is Kim, I think this is the first time I commented on your blog but have been a regular visitor for a while. I decided no more lurking...so I am just jumping in with a comment.
Your photos are incredible as usual and Lia is over the top adorable! I love your blog it's one of my favs!
OK Kate- how did you adjust the focus to achieve this affect??? I have been working on it for about an hour now after seeing it on F! But could nto tell from the properties!
i know i say this every time kate, but good gracious alive, she is just gorgeous. that last photo--please tell me that you will print that on some wonderful huge canvas!! xo
Thanks for your comment and delurking. I've also enjoyed reading your blog. Happy to hear Lia is feeling better, she is beautiful and you capture such great pics!
To answer your question about repainting our kitchen- I used a water base paint. Most the research suggested oil base, but I'm so glad we went with water base. It's less messy and still gives you great results and easy upkeep, waterbase has improved a lot. We didn't use a top-coat on the white cabinets, only the green island. After experimenting with a few different paints, we went w/ Behr Premium 100% acrylic high gloss latex. Spraying it on was key to get the nice professional shine. We custom matched our color but it is close to the "Almond Cream" color.
A few tips- sand & clean well, primer first, thin your paint if you spray it (w/ water), 3-4 thin layers, lightly sand (300-400 grit) and dust w/ tac cloth in between all layers. It takes awhile and a lot of patience, but so worth it. Good luck, I'll be checking your blog often.
She is a beauty!! The pictures are incredible, Kate... the last one has such gorgeous contrast!!
And you got warm weather??? I am so jealous that you got to take OUTDOOR PICTURES! We've been braving the Arctic over here... huddled in our house and waiting for spring to arrive!! Can't wait!
